Am I the only one who was watching the movie. Saw the the choices and guessed it was just a part of the movie? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Then realized it was interactive. 🤦🏽‍♀️ By it being Black Mirror, I was thinking it was some sort of punishment. Maybe for someone who committed a serious crime. The choices at the bottom where for him. So that he would make better choices. Smh....

I've been on bandersnatch for 4 hours and got all the endings Every ending has the game review in it. Except the one where you choose netflix. There's also a secret ending where after the credits you end up on the bus again but instead of choosing which cassette to play. He has one called bandersnatch.

i played the "game" but somebody of my family must have played it before because i started with the choice cut him or burry him with no context whatsoever. so i basically played the game backwards slowly unraveling the meaning of those for me random video clips (the backflashes). but in the end i understood every choice u had to take to make bandersnatch a incredible game.

Hearing analysis like this makes me wonder if people actually took the time to marinate on their ideas or just rushed to have a review out. The game only does well in one specific path and we do not see him in prison ar the end of it. Seeing a path end with him in a state of unrest means he failed to do the game the way he wanted to do it. There are 4 endings and 2 of those have multiple variations. 1. Stefan finishes the game, but the game doesn't do well 2. Stefan doesn't finish the game 3. Stefan finishes the game and it's perfect 4. Stefan goes back in time and accepts death The first 2 are the ones with multiple scenarios (I include the Netflix film set as a variation of #2). The game is completed AND perfect if Stefan kills his father and ONLY his father.

So, beyond the PAC speech—Colin literally is pac man, right? Kitty = red ghost. Pearl = the white balls. There is a pattern where Colin ends up catching rubber band ball repeatedly in two separate scenes. Look for a kitty blue hair reference. Anyone else see this? Maybe it is obvious, but I haven’t read anything calling it out yet.

There is no "Work at the office/Work from home" option. The choice is either to "Accept" or "Refuse" the offer to work for Tuckersoft. There is no way to know that refusing results in still being employed by them while working at home. So I'm calling "bullshit" on the choice you claim you made.

This was especially weird for me as I remember back in the early 1980's staying with a friend who was designing a game for the Sinclair Spectrum (a game based on the Chinese I Ching divination book) and we took lots of acid and listened specifically to prog albums including Tangerine Dream's Phaedra and Tomita's Bermuda Triangle. This whole thing was like a weird fictionalised flashback for me.

I believe that Bandersnatch is a concept that in the future many of us will foresee. Not exactly quite from the movie but: Questioningly the reality itself. From what I got from watching it; Stefan was being manipulated by a higher being which is the viewer(us) but even the viewer choices was being manipulated by a higher being. then us. For example when I was in the therapy session with Stefan I told them to pinches ears but the higher being made him choose to bite his nail. In actuality we never had a choice in the movie. The whole point of this movie was to question our reality of it. Is our choices being manipulated by a higher being or do we have free will.

I got the ending where you catch Stefan wanking over the Amy Schumer Netflix special. He's so ashamed he kills him self. Did anyone else get that ending? You have to eat the sugar puffs, pour tea on your cock, bum the tech nerd while on acid, get a hand job from your mum, look at the fat chick in the lift, programme fallout 76 on your Commodore and destroy your copy of world cup 86 magazine. This will give the ending.

Cool concept but I dint like this. I hit too many dead ends early on, and when that happens the timelines really get messed up. And on top of that, there are scenes which are just a dream. It gets too confusing really fast. Sometimes I have visited the same scene 4 times and it just gets boring.

I got a few different endings, most of them ended with Stephan in jail. The darkest one I think was when he chopped his dad's head off and you see it on his dresser. I also like the one (might have been the same ending) where Pearl is actually creating the Bandersnatch Netflix episode. That was a mind fuck. I think the most satisfying ending was when Stephan actually gets his rabbit back. I thought that when he got the rabbit, they would make the first train and his mother wouldn't have died but they still get on the 8:45 train and they both die. It was very confusing though, because I thought that would've just been a completely different timeline - a different branch unrelated to everything else, but then Stephan dies in the therapist's office. More mind fuckery. I also got the secret post credit scene thing where Stephan is on the bus listening to music and it plays like an old dial up tone. Apparently it's actually some sort of code that takes you to the Tuckersoft website but watching it was VERY confusing.

I have atheory that Stefan is actually a cookie in the game of Bandersnatch and the decisions we make actually affect him said he’s a person in real life. I feel like this gives the episode a deeper meaning and also could possibly make us the villain in that we are creating a literal hell for Stefan simply by playing the game. This is much like Robert Daley in USS Callister, one was arguably the villain I that episode. Imagine if there was an ending where Stefan fights back and is able to take control of the game away from us and back to him.

you could only "choose-ish" the fate of the main character, but I think that's the point of the episode: that we watch these super weird, often violent shows for entertainment (that even gets addressed SUPER meta textually in the silly Netflix ending), and if given the option to make more mundane/less dark choices for the characters, we as Black Mirror fans inevitably want to see the most violence, the most bleak outcome, to the point where we go back again and again and again to get to the "truth" of the narrative Brooker and co. have presented to us.

The only good ending for the dad is when Stephan breaks the computer or spills tea on it. When he does this while watching the Jfd doc Stephens dad comes up to his room and hugs him, the only time we see Stephan and his dad have contact. All other endings the dad has to die or have Stephan die.

At one point it felt like one of Derren Brown's specials when he created this new game show where you followed the life of this person and the in-studio audience wore masks and were able to select what would happen to the person out of two options until it spiralled and the person ended up being killed and u watched as the audience took off their masks and just looked totally horrified (the death was staged dw). At the moment I could decide whether to kill Stefan's dad or not I felt so uncomfortable but it's just a show and I chose for Stefan to kill him and chop the body up. It was pretty good. Loved the ending where Stefan fights the therapist and his dad.

The action scene ending I took as Stefan going insane and assaulting Dr Haynes, then his father barging in to stop Stefan, especially with Stefan screaming at the end seeming like he has lost his mind. He is an unreliable narrator, I doubt that Dr Haynes fought like we saw at all.

This is my favourite black mirror story so far, I love how even though we get to make choices, the narrative fucks with us and shows us how little control even we have. White Christmas had a masterful plot twist, San junipero had an excellent juxtaposition on the value of life vs superficial immortality, but I don't think there's a single episode that matches the depth in this episode, and the foreshadowing of the dog digging up the dead dad, at the start was brilliant. This episode really reminds me of Donnie Darko.

I watched it tonight. Overall not very impressed. I kept getting the go back option. Like I get maybe the point is all we have is the illusion of choice ourselves but if we have to keep going back and the story isn't always going forward then i'd rather just watch a normal episode. Like sometimes I'd go back and it would kind of quickly flash through scenes we'd already had (which is fine I guess so we know out timeline) and then other times I'd have to sit through full scenes that I had already watched and it was so frustrating. I've realised from watching reviews that I actually seen most of the potential endings but because the credits never came up I didnt know it was the end. I just pressed the go back option because having that option implies the story isn't finished. The credits only came up for me when he dies on the chair in the therapists office. I feel like if there wasn't options to go back, forcing you to towards certain endings it would have been more satisfying. This obviously means that you need way more endings which means a much higher production cost. I also think that every ending needs to be cathartic. The only ending I thought was fitting was when the boy goes on the train with the mother and he dies in the office chair. Not the best ending but acceptable. Him jumping to his death off the balcony did not feel earned within the story.

There's a small subtheme about free will (or the illusion thereof) which I found to be super interesting! There are some decisions that you can make while watching - which are important - that have the same outcome no matter which you choose. For example when you either accept or deny the LSD, either way Stefan takes it and proceeds to the suicide scene. I found it interesting that Brooker introduces the illusion of free will to the viewer, but you can only find out after multiple viewings.

Personally, I found this to be one of the blandest Black Mirror episodes. I watch/played this a couple of times and, yeah, the illusion of choice fits with the episode. I think what makes this episode so special is that it's a contemporary take on the modern tragedy. A tragedy normally revolves around a tragic hero having an intrinsic tragic flaw which ultimately leads to their downfall (e.g. Hamlet's indecision means that loads of people die and he ends up dying). A modern tragedy instead tends to focus on the tragic hero's downfall being a result of circumstances and factors out of their control. The modern tragedy is arguably the saddest type of story one can see/read as we see that there is no problem with the protagonist, but they are in a cruel and uncaring world. In Bandersnatch, we see that no matter which options you choose, Stephan's downfall is inevitable. He will either kill those he loves and lose his mind whilst seeing his game and artistic integrity become famed and celebrated, or we see his game perform badly and his dream crushed. Stephan is controlled by us, giving him no free will in this story and therefore no way out of his downfall. Additionally, the audience are only ever given two options and sometimes only given one which leads to the same result. I think you could look into this as a reflection on us, showing at the end of the day, we are just like Stephan. We have no free will in our destiny.
